Since 1995, the Mailman Center for Child Development has partnered with Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Visual and Performing Arts Department to celebrate the creativity of students with disabilities through the ArtAbilities program. Open to students in special education ages 5 to 21, ArtAbilities invites teachers each fall to submit student artwork for juried selection and public recognition.
ArtAbilities highlights talent and creates opportunities for students to be recognized for their abilities and accomplishments at an annual celebration during the month of May. The growing ArtAbilities Collection on the walls of our center reflects the imagination and perspectives of young artists across our community while helping promote a more inclusive vision of what children with disabilities can achieve.
The ArtAbilities program would like to thank the Visual and Performing Arts Department of Miami-Dade County Public Schools for their support and collaboration on this program.
