Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of severe memory loss or dementia in the elderly. Affecting 5 million people in the United States, this disease destroys the parts of the brain that control thinking, language, and judgement. Numerous studies indicate that individuals with a family history of Alzheimer disease have a greater chance of developing the disease.
- DAWN Alzheimer’s Research Study - The goal of DAWN Alzheimer’s Research is to build a resource that greatly expands the representation of currently underrepresented African ancestry and Latino individuals in AD genetic studies, which will expand our understanding of the genetic etiology of AD and broaden the biological scope for developing potential therapies.
