Alzheimers disease (AD) is the most common late-onset neurodegenerative disease. The age at which an individual develops AD, their age at onset (AAO), may range from their early 50’s to >90 years old. Family and genetic studies have shown that the AAO of AD can be genetically influenced. However, studies of AAO have been limited and much remains to be discovered about genetic factors for AAO of AD.

In a collaborative effort the team seeks to use innovative analytic approaches to uncover the genetic architecture of AAO of AD in existing datasets. The project focuses on gene discovery and the development of predictive models for AAO. The study results will provide targets with the potential to delay onset of AD and to advance the future development of personalized medicine.
