With the success coming from genetics studies to date mainly focusing on non-Hispanic White participants, the HIHG now provides a unique opportunity for the discovery “of novel targets and pathways” in diverse populations. The potential discovery of genetic contributions to AD risk and protective variants will have substantial influence on our understanding of AD and towards our goal of identifying new target treatments. This study parallels the family-based efforts in the Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project and will enhance and extend current genomic efforts such as ADSP and Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics Consortium (ADGC) to a broader AD community.
