Infectious Diseases Prevention Research Unit (IDPRU)
Our program conducts clinical trials and biobehavioral studies related to infectious diseases and HIV, in addition to providing clinical services. Our research aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new drugs, technologies, and initiatives for HIV prevention and treatment. Studies focus on assessing the effectiveness and acceptability of various interventions, including long-acting injectable PrEP, tecovirimat for the treatment of human monkeypox virus, remote follow-up visits, and mobile health technologies to improve PrEP adherence. We also aim to understand the contextual and implementation factors that influence the uptake of these interventions.
