R.A.P.I.D. Resources: PrEP: An Effective Tool for HIV Prevention

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis is an effective tool for HIV prevention for individuals at high risk of acquiring HIV. Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis or PrEP is when people at risk for HIV take daily medicine to prevent HIV. When taken as prescribed, PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV from sex or injection drug use. R.A.P.I.D. Resources: Education Initiative & Routine HIV Testing

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that persons at increased risk for HIV infection should be screened for HIV at least annually. HIV testing is recommended for all patients ages 13-64 in all health care settings after the patient is notified that testing will be done unless the patient declines (opt-out screening).
