Weinberger Lab Research

Our research centers on a single question: what are the fundamental rules that drive a cell toward one fate over another? By pairing mathematical methods with wet-lab experiments, we work to identify these regulatory principles and apply them to the design of new therapeutic strategies.

We use viral pathogens as our model systems because they make these decisions under pressure. Pathogenicity creates inherent fitness trade-offs, since a virus must balance transmission against virulence.
