The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery is performing research on the frontier of vascular surgery bringing together many disciplines in developing new technologies and treatments for disease involving the circulation.

Our Division has a NIH-funded basic science laboratory that has state-of-art facility to conduct cutting-edge research from the cellular and molecular levels to investigate endothelial cell biology, angiogenesis, and vasculogenesis. The long term goal of our research is to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying various vascular diseases and develop novel tools and approaches to treat various peripheral artery diseases including lower extremity arterial occlusive disease and diabetes-related wound healing defects. Current studies focus on developing stem-cell-based cell therapy through regulating bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells and mesenchymal stem cells to modulate neovascularization and wound healing. Our research staff has extensive expertise in various disciplines including molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, biochemistry and animal models. We have developed 3-D blood vessel formation model and advanced imaging technique to study vascular biology. We have a very exciting basic research setting.
