Seeking patient care?
All of these institutions are located within one block of each other in Miami’s Health District. This medical campus serves as a tertiary and quaternary referral center not only for South Florida and the Caribbean, but also for Central and South America.
Throughout their training, vascular surgery residents are exposed to the full spectrum of arterial and venous diseases, including non-operative care and vascular medicine, as well as open surgical and endovascular therapies. Residents also spend time in the vascular laboratory, learning to perform and interpret non-invasive vascular studies.
Rotations at these high-volume referral centers provide extensive exposure to a wide range of open and endovascular procedures, including the treatment of aortoiliac and infrainguinal occlusive disease, thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, aortic dissection, traumatic aortic injuries, chronic iliocaval occlusive disease, visceral and cerebrovascular occlusive disease, and the creation and management of arteriovenous access for dialysis.
During each rotation, residents work alongside junior general surgery residents and medical students to oversee patient care. They attend weekly outpatient clinics and participate in the pre-operative and post-operative management of vascular surgery patients under the supervision of our vascular surgery faculty.
As residents demonstrate increasing competence in surgical procedures and patient care, they are granted graded responsibility, progressing toward independent practice.
Our program places a strong emphasis on research, supporting the academic advancement of our trainees and fostering their development as future leaders in vascular surgery.
The dynamic environment of Miami’s Health District offers an exceptional setting to educate and inspire the next generation of vascular surgeons and medical leaders.
