Requirements
- Dental degree from an ADA accredited dental school or equivalent international degree. We accept graduates of international dental schools if the candidate has satisfactorily completed an academic program of not less than four years, resulting in a degree, diploma, or certificate in dentistry recognized by the appropriate authorities of the country in which the school is located.
- Must be a United States citizen or have a permanent resident visa (“green card”) and proof of your status. Proof of citizenship (US passport, US birth certificate, or Certificate of Naturalization) or proof of permanent resident visa (Permanent Resident Visa) will be requested if the applicant is invited for a personal interview.
- Must have successfully completed the National Board Dental Examination Parts I and II. Both parts must be completed before submitting the application.
- A TOEFL score above 80 (Internet-Based) for foreign trained dentists. TOEFL scores expire after 2 years. Our program does not have an institutional code on ETS. TOEFL scores should be mailed to the program in a sealed envelope.
Program Cost
Estimated tuition per year is $55,000. Tuition rates and fees are subject to change at any time during enrollment. The program consists of 12 months with an optional 2nd year.
Application Process
Deadline to apply to the program: September 1st. We recommend applicants to apply early.
Step 1: Candidates should apply through PASS (Postdoctoral Application Support Service), which is sponsored by the American Dental Education Association (www.adea.org).
Step 2: Applicants should mail or email (umhgpr@miami.edu) the following documents directly to the program:
- NBDE Official Report to be emailed directly to the Program. Please check ADA website for more information: www.ada.org/en/education-careers/dentpin
- Passport Picture.
- Official dental school transcripts.
- A a non-refundable $100 application fee. We accept Cashier’s Check orMoney Order payable to "University Of Miami OMFS GPR".
For foreign trained dentists, please mail the following:
- Copy of dental school diploma in native language.
- Official dental school transcripts in native language from every institution attended.
- Official translation of dental school transcript and dental school diploma.

Interview/Psychomotor Bench Test
The admission consists of a three-step process. First, the applications submitted to PASS are evaluated. Qualifying applicants are then selected for a personal interview. The final step consists of a psychomotor bench test. An Admission Bench Test fee will apply and is due in full on the day of the test.
