Anisha Durve D.O.M. A.D
Anisha is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and an Ayurvedic Doctor. She is the Director of Acupuncture & Ayurveda at the University of Miami’s Osher Center for Integrative Health since 2022. She is passionate about making acupuncture accessible to all and has launched group medical visits on the university campus. Anisha teaches a 300 hour CME program for physicians to learn acupuncture since 2019. In 2000, Anisha graduated from the Southwest College of Acupuncture in New Mexico with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine and then interned at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing. She has been in clinical practice for 24+ years integrating acupuncture with her unique blended style of acupressure, guided meditation, breathwork, pranic healing, and sound healing. She co-authored a clinical textbook on acupressure in 2008 with Dr. Vasant Lad titled Marma Points of Ayurveda that teaches patients self-care techniques with acupressure. Anisha is also an Ayur-yoga therapist, meditation instructor, and passionate about teaching patients how to thrive with Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle counseling.
Annette Fornos, M.D.
Dr. Annette Fornos is a board-certified internist in Miami, Florida. She completed her undergraduate career at the University of Miami, earning a Bachelor of Science Summa Cum Laude in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She attended medical school at the University of Miami School of Medicine, class of 2005, followed by residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2008. She has worked for several health organizations and private practices in Miami-Dade County. Dr. Fornos served as assistant professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and faculty at the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine at Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is board certified in Functional Medicine by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and by the Institute for Functional Medicine and a fellow in Anti-Aging and Metabolic Medicine by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. She has also completed many post-graduate functional medicine courses such as Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, IV and Chelation Therapy, Peptide Therapy, Weight Loss, Cardiovascular Disease Advanced Workshop with Dr. Mark Houston, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome with Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker. In addition to her passion for Functional Medicine, Dr. Fornos became a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher by the Kundalini Research Institute.
Dr. Fornos’ main passion is the interplay among the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. She also has a special interest in gastrointestinal and mental health, lifestyle, the role of psychology and spirituality in wellbeing, and the role of the environment in epigenetics. In her daily practice, she combines her training modalities into a holistic and individualized approach to root cause medicine. “My training in Functional and Integrative Medicine opened my eyes to holistic medicine. It is a constant learning process inspired by my patients and guided by innovative research. Once you approach health this way, you can never go back.”
Karen Koffler, M.D.
Karen is a University of Miami Medical School graduate and completed her training in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado. Her early careers included working for the Indian Health Service, the Denver Veterans Affairs, and inner city hospitals as an Emergency Room doctor, a Hospitalist, and an ICU doctor. She was in the first class of physicians trained at the University of Arizona’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship and was one of the earliest physicians to achieve certification in Functional Medicine. In a constant quest to expand her knowledge base, she has received in-depth training in acupuncture, mind-body medicine, Apollo Health for the reversal of cognitive decline, genomics and more. When she is not studying, she is often surfing or trying to train her puppy Shoko (without much success).
Laura Redwine, Ph.D.
Laura Redwine, PhD. Clinical Research Director, Osher Center for Integrative Health, Family Medicine and Community Health, and volunteer faculty, Public Health Sciences. Dr. Redwine received her bachelor's degree in psychology and biology from the University of Miami and her PhD in Medical Psychology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland. Her postdoctoral training was done at the National Institute of Health - Department of Neuropharmacology; the Georgetown University Medical Center - Department of Pharmacology/Physiology; and NIH T32 training in Clinical Psychopharmacology and Biopsychology in the Department of Psychiatry, University of California, San Diego. Dr. Redwine conducts complex studies examining the relations among psychosocial, behavioral, and physiological factors and chronic diseases. She has been a principal investigator on eight NIH funded projects examining integrative modalities, including tai chi, mindfulness, and gratitude on psychological and physical health. Outside of work, Dr. Redwine maintains a regular meditation practice, and enjoys practicing Hatha yoga, and qigong, and going on long hikes.
Teresa Glynn, DPT, PT, MBA
Teresa is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and has an MBA in Health Care Administration. She serves as the Director of Education for the Miami Osher Center for Integrative Health and has a primary role in the Department of Physical Therapy as faculty and Vice Chair of Clinical Services. With over 30 years of growth and development in rehab services, Teresa oversees the operations of six UHealth PT/OT Clinics, employing over 160 clinical team members, and assists in facilitating educational experiences and multidisciplinary opportunities for the next generation. Teresa joined the Osher Center in 2023 to assist in the development of our educational mission and has a special interest in nutrition as a basis for whole-person health. She is in the final phase of earning her Master’s in Nutrition from Nova Southeastern University and is excited to bring that knowledge base to physical therapy education as well as to patient services within the Osher Center.
Jaimie Katz, M.H.A.
Jaimie is a University of Miami graduate and received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She then went on to receive her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Central Florida. Paying her way through college Jaimie worked at many high-end restaurants in the Miami area which is where she learned the importance of exceeding guest expectations. Jaimie realized that it is very possible to use the same level of service that is commonly found in the hospitality industry and apply those same skills in the healthcare setting. She is constantly engaging with patients to ensure they have everything they need, as she believes this interaction plays an important role in the healing process.
On her off hours, Jaimie enjoys being a new mom to her daughter Sienna, taking care of her fur babies Zooey & Zara, and spending much of her time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her loved ones.
