Laura Redwine

Laura Redwine, Ph.D.

Clinical Research Director, Osher Center for Integrative Health, Family Medicine and Community Health, and volunteer faculty, Public Health Sciences.

Dr. Redwine received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology from the University of Miami, her PhD in Medical Psychology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, her postdoctoral training was at the National Institute of Health - Department of Neuropharmacology, Laboratory of Clinical Sciences Branch, Georgetown University Medical Center - Department of Pharmacology/Physiology, and T32 training in Clinical Psychopharmacology and Biopsychology, Department of Psychiatry University of California, San Diego. She conducts complex studies examining the relations among psychosocial, behavioral, and physiological factors and chronic diseases. Dr. Redwine has been PI or MPI on seven NIH funded projects examining integrative modalities, including tai chi, mindfulness, and gratitude on psychological and physical health.

Gail Ironson

Gail Ironson, M.D., Ph.D.

Professor, Departments of Psychology, and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Osher Center for Integrative Health Internal Board Member.

Dr. Ironson received her PhD from University of Wisconsin, Madison in Quantitative Psychology, did her post-doctoral training at the University of Miami in Behavioral Medicine, received her MD at the University of Miami, and did her Residency training at Stanford University. Her research is in the fields of Positive Psychology, Spirituality, Trauma, Stress Management, and Health. Dr. Ironson has held several leadership positions including: President of the American Psychosomatic Society, President of the Health Division of International Positive Psychology Association, and President of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research.

Dr. Dhabhar

Firdaus Dhabhar, Ph.D.

Professor, Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Microbiology and Immunology, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Osher Center for Integrative Health Internal Board Member.

Dr. Dhabhar graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College with a double major in biology and political science and received his doctorate in biomedical science from The Rockefeller University. His research interests extend from molecular and cellular mechanisms to integrative physiology, to individual and societal health and well-being. His laboratory aims to elucidate mind-body networks that could be harnessed to maximize health. He has served on multiple advisory panels at the National Academies of Science. Dr. Dhabhar’s publications have garnered over 26,800 citations and featured by major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Financial Times, USA Today, US News & World Report, Scientific American, PBS, ABC, NBC News, The Miami Herald, and others.

David Lee

David Lee, Ph.D.

Professor and Chair, Department of Public Health Sciences, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and Osher Center for Integrative Health Internal Board Member.

Dr. Lee is a chronic disease epidemiologist with interest in the areas of tobacco use/prevention, cancer risk, the epidemiology of hearing and vision disorders, occupational health, and the application of mind-body practices in those living with chronic conditions or working in high stress occupations. He has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and/or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since 1993. Dr. Lee developed and launched a course in Mindfulness in Public Health and Medicine that combines didactic and experiential training on the use of mind-body techniques to manage the stressors associated with modern life. He has mentored many doctoral students, fellows and junior faculty as well as high school students over his 30+ years at the University of Miami.

Adam Carrico

Adam Carrico, Ph.D.

Chair, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Florida International University.

Dr. Carrico received his B.S. in psychology from Loyola University, Chicago, his Ph.D. in Clinical-Health Psychology from the University of Miami and did postdoctoral training in Health Psychology & Reproductive Infectious Disease from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Carrico’s research is funded by multiple NIH grant awards to develop community-engaged, clinical research programs targeting intertwined epidemics or substance use and HIV/AIDS. A focus has been to examine if interventions to decrease stimulant use can reduce innate immune activation, inflammation, and HIV viral load.

John Lewis

John E. Lewis, Ph.D.

Founder and President, Morris Formulations, LLC, Miami, FL, USA. Volunteer Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

He is a diplomat, faculty member, and advisor of the Medical Wellness Association. Dr. Lewis has been the principal investigator of multiple nutrition, dietary supplements, exercise training, and medical device studies in the last 2 decades. Much of his research has included investigating the effects of interventions on outcomes, including immune and cognitive functioning, inflammation, physical fitness, nutrient status, quality of life, and mental health, in healthy adults and in those with Alzheimer’s, HIV, MS, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, diabetes, chronic pain, and GI disorders. He has been an invited speaker at multiple international and national conferences, including a seminal talk on the results of his work in Alzheimer’s for TEDxMiami. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is a former athlete and competitive body builder, who maintains a very rigorous exercise training regimen and has eaten a whole-food, plant-based diet for over 21 years.

Michael Antoni

Michael Antoni, Ph.D.

Professor of Psychology, University of Miami, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Director of the Center for Psycho-Oncology Research, Editor of The International Journal of Behavioral Medicine, Psychology & Health, and Osher Center for Integrative Health Internal Board Member.

Dr. Antoni's lab examines stress, coping, and health outcomes and showed stress management intervention effects on psychological adaptation, biobehavioral processes (neuroendocrine, inflammation), and health outcomes in multiple NIH randomized trials in breast cancer, prostate cancer, HIV/AIDS and chronic fatigue. The lab disseminated treatment manuals for breast and prostate cancer in use at major facilities nationally. Dr. Antoni directed the NCI-funded P50 Center for Psycho-Oncology Research, multiple R01s, and federal training grants focused on HIV and breast cancer.
