Graduate Medical Education
The mission of University of Miami/Jackson Health System Graduate Medical Education is to educate and inspire residents and fellows to deliver high-quality, compassionate health care. We train them in a world-class academic environment that promotes clinical excellence, integrity, and service—building the health of our community by preparing the next generation of leaders in patient care, education, research, and innovation.
Our vision is to be a nationally and internationally recognized leader in graduate medical education. We aim to be the destination of choice for those committed to making a meaningful impact in medicine and to building a healthier community.

A Partnership for Excellence

Our Graduate Medical Education enterprise is a partnership of more than 50 years between the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Health System. Together we assure our faculty and our programs that we will support their educational missions, provide a healthy and safe environment for our trainees, and deliver high quality patient-centered care.

Research Opportunities

The University of Miami and Jackson Health System offer a wide variety of research opportunities. We are a research powerhouse, having achieved national recognition for advancements in diabetes, cancer, spinal cord injury, AIDS, and others.

We have many well-established centers of excellence right on campus, including:

  • Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (ranked #1 ophthalmology program in the nation by U.S. News and World Report since 2004)
  • The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis
