Neuroscience

Neuroscience is the study of how the brain and nervous system function. This scientific area has expanded enormously with technological advances. We're and we are closer than ever to understanding how the brain works. The faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine faculty is at the forefront of these research areas, using leading-edge approaches, such as optogenetics, light-sheet microscopy, and computer-brain interfaces.

The Miller School’s basic and clinical science departments of the Miller School have a long-standing and internationally recognized record of graduate and postgraduate training in neurosciences. Our students have access to many dedicated neuroscientists across our three campuses.

Key Areas of Research

Our faculty researchers are focused on behavioral neuroscience, CNS injury and repair, neural development, neurogenetics, neurological disease, neurophysiology, and sensory neuroscience.
