Jackson Memorial Hospital
With 1,550 beds and serving as the county hospital for Miami and Dade County, Jackson Memorial Hospital is the main teaching hospital. It is part of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center Complex, a modern 67-acre campus located minutes from downtown Miami. Our multidisciplinary sarcoma team provides comprehensive sarcoma services at JMH and coordinates care through our weekly sarcoma conference. Our orthopaedic oncology team has a half-day oncology clinic and two operative days at JMH each week. JMH/Holtz Children’s Hospital, one of the largest children’s hospitals in the southeast, is the primary location for our pediatric sarcoma in-patient service. Extensive pediatric subspecialists are available at Holtz, including multidisciplinary sarcoma specialists.
UHealth Tower
UHealth Tower is a 560-bed facility located across the street from the Miller School, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and JMH. It is the primary adult in-patient hospital of the University of Miami Health System. Orthopaedic residents rotate here while on the musculoskeletal oncology, spine, and joint reconstructive services. The orthopaedic oncology service (including spine oncology) averages 10-15 operative cases per week at the hospital. Additionally, the main outpatient clinic for the oncology division is conveniently located within this hospital.
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
Sylvester received National Cancer Institute designation in 2019, making it one of only two NCI-designated cancer centers in Florida and one of only 71 across the United States. Sylvester has established multiple satellite facilities in South Florida to improve patient access to the highest quality cancer care. Experts at Sylvester drive multiple clinical trials in sarcoma science, providing additional opportunities for fellows - but most importantly, making cutting-edge science available to our cancer patients. The fellow will see outpatients in a multidisciplinary sarcoma clinic at Sylvester with Dr. Conway on Tuesdays, working alongside our medical oncology providers in a patient-centric and coordinated fashion.
