Stroke Division Research

Stroke Division

The Stroke faculty conducts cutting edge research to address a variety of cerebrovascular diseases. The division is actively enrolling patients in acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention and stroke recovery trials, and has special interest in stroke in minorities.

We are proud to announce that we are a member of the NIH StrokeNet Trials Network.

What is StrokeNet?

The National Institutes of Health created StrokeNet to conduct cutting-edge novel studies in acute treatment, prevention and recovery of Stroke, a consortium of 25 regional centers across the US, involving over 200 hospitals. The network collaborates to create, evaluate and prioritize novel ideas in the pipeline, rapidly complete these studies through expedited regulatory processes to bring needed treatments that will impact stroke care to the clinical arena, and to train the next generation of stroke researchers. It is anticipated that all Stroke studies funded by the National Institutes of Health will be conducted only at StrokeNet sites.

In collaboration with the University of Miami, we have formed a regional consortium in Florida as one of the 25 Regional Networks for StrokeNet and the only one in Florida. It includes acute care, pediatric and rehabilitation hospitals that leverage academic-private-community partnerships.
