Welcome to the Neuromuscular Division of the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami. We are home to “The ALS Center at the University of Miami” that includes the “Kessenich Family ALS Clinic” the recently established Qalsody clinic for patients with SOD1 ALS, as well as specialized clinics for myasthenia gravis, myositis and neuromuscular neurogenetic disorders.
We also see patients in the adult and pediatric Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Clinics and the University of Miami Electromyography Laboratory. Our diverse faculty provides comprehensive and compassionate care to patients with a broad range of neuromuscular diseases, as well as both electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular pathology services. We are engaged in both investigator-initiated and multi-center clinical research studies in diseases such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, and peripheral neuropathy. We receive generous support for our clinical programs from the ALS Recovery Fund, the Muscular Distrophy Association (MDA), the ALS Association and through the Bitner Plante Initiative. Our research enterprise is supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the ALS Association, the MDA, the ALS Recovery Fund, and the Eloise Kimmelman Fund.
