Health Fairs

The Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Department of Community Service (DOCS)
DOCS health fairs bring medical services and screenings to underserved members of our community. Everyone is welcome. Our students and physicians work together to examine each patient, as well as interpret and explain the results of the tests performed. Patients are counseled on proper diet and exercise regimens and engaged in conversation about the necessary aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

Furthermore, DOCS works with physicians and community partners to provide patients with a connection to local resources that can be accessed year-round.  Using a referral system to free or low-cost clinics, DOCS serves as a portal of entry to care for those patients identified to be at risk. We continue to look for ways to improve screenings and services at our health fairs, and we welcome support from community partners to proceed with serving the Greater Miami Area to the best of our ability for years to come.

Our overarching mission is to promote health equity in the greater Miami community, ensuring that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to the healthcare services they deserve.

Fort Lauderdale Health Fair

The Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Department of Community Service (DOCS) Fort Lauderdale Health Fair was a major success! Over 100 #MedCanes came together to provide crucial health screenings to 200+ community members who often face barriers to traditional health care. A huge thank you to our amazing student and physician volunteers for making a positive impact!

Little Haiti Health Fair

At a recent DOCS health fair, our students and physicians offered free screenings, health education, and connections to local members of the Little Haiti community. This program continues to be a vital entry point to year-round care in the Greater Miami Area. We’re grateful for our community partners and always looking for ways to expand our impact.
