Dean Henri R. Ford

Dear Alumni,

The Miller School of Medicine continues its path of preeminence. Since I became the dean of the Miller School, we have seen our ranking rise in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools, consistently making it into the top 50 institutions in the country for Best Graduate Schools – Medical Schools. We are also considered a top 15 institution for diversity and the No.1 National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded institution in the state of Florida. The hard work and dedication of our students, alumni, faculty, and staff, has us on a trajectory to become one of the elite U.S. medical schools.

We have so much to be proud of! The diversity of our faculty and medical students increasingly mirrors that of our patient population. We serve a community that represents the future demographics of the U.S. population. Our brilliant clinicians and researchers are well-positioned to deliver outstanding clinical care and effectively address some of the most vexing challenges facing the medical profession.

The Miller School is anchored by first-class research efforts and an academic experience that is a magnet for the best and brightest students. The class of 2027 is the most competitive one in our history, with the highest GPA and MCAT of any class ever admitted. These incoming students will benefit from our innovative NextGenMD curriculum which provides personalized and interactive learning, accelerated pathways to residency programs, as well as dual degrees that will make them uniquely qualified to lead in today’s dynamic health care ecosystem. We are also proud of the fact that we are No. 1 in the nation in graduating students with dual degrees, such as public health, business, law, and genomics to name a few.

An additional resource for our students is the Dean’s Research Excellence Award in Medicine (DREAM) Program. This program gives third-year medical students, who are interested in pursuing careers as physician-scientists, an opportunity to conduct a full year of research training and professional development. Students receive a $40,000 stipend and mentorship support from a Miller School faculty member.

We are continuing to make a difference in our community, and we are stronger in our efforts with the support of our alumni. You represent the ingenuity, innovation, and commitment that are at the core of our mission at the Miller School. Your dedication sets an unforgettable standard for our aspiring physicians and helps us advance our noble mission.
Thank you for being part of the Miller School family.
