Office of the Executive Dean for Research

The Office of the Executive Dean for Research members are proud to assist the investigators at the Miller School of Medicine. We have one common goal – we facilitate research.

About The School

The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, an academic medical center founded in 1952, is proud to serve South Florida, South America and the Caribbean in education, research, patient care and community service.

About Our Research

Every day faculty, staff, and students at the Miller School of Medicine rigorously pursue new knowledge and innovative approaches to improving human health. Miller School investigators bridge diverse disciplines and collaborate with campuses across the U, as well as with other institutions and corporate partners, to bring research from “bench to bedside.”

Miller School faculty receive approximately $260 million annually from public and private agencies to conduct a broad spectrum of nationally and internationally recognized research, build state-of-the-art facilities, and support graduate students and postdoctoral trainees.

Engaging in more than 2,000 ongoing projects, our researchers are making rapid progress in our labs and clinical trials, working to eradicate devastating illnesses like diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, and obesity. Our research touches lives at every age—from the tiniest newborns to seasoned centenarians in need of better treatments, cures, and new discoveries to end pain and suffering.

It is an exciting time for the Miller School’s growing research enterprise — we are entering a new decade empowered with the tools to quickly access, analyze, and store unprecedented amounts of complex research data. Our community of scholars is poised for GenerationU — the next generation of innovation — as we strive to uncover the genetic origins of chronic, complex diseases and lead the emerging fields of personalized medicine and stem cell research.
