Administrative and Research Translation (ART Core)

University of Miami Superfund Research Program

The UM-SRP will be managed by the Administrative and Research Translation Core (ART Core), which will promote interdisciplinary research, assume responsibility for the daily management and long-term productivity of UM-SRP, and ensure scientific and fiscal oversight of the entire program. Of particular emphasis will be advancing cross- and multidisciplinary projects, collaborations, and research translations.

UM SRP - Organizational Structure

The Core will consist of two Directors (Drs. Daunert and Toborek), Research Translation Director (Dr. Owley), and the Operations Office. Dr. Daunert will focus on environmental science and engineering projects, and will represent UM-SRP nationally and internationally. Dr. Toborek (contact UM-SRP Director) will oversee the performance of the biomedical projects and Cores, and will represent UM-SRP locally. Dr. Owley and her Research Translational Team will be responsible for leading and coordinating translational activities of UM-SRP. The tasks of the Operations Office will include daily operations of the UM-SRP and support for research translation. The ART Core will work very closely with the Executive Committee, the Internal Advisory Committee (IAC), and the External Advisory Committee (EAC). The Executive Committee will consist of the Directors, Research Translation Director, Project and Core Leaders, and will be assisted by the Operations Office. In addition to overseeing the productivity and responsiveness of the program, the Executive Committee will be involved in the proactive planning of strategies to further promote interdisciplinary collaboration, communication, and translation. We already have a plan in place for a multi-directional communication plan, which has been described in the Administrative and Research Translation Core (ART-Core). The assessment of the Program, performance metrics, research needs, and strategic directions will be performed by the Executive Committee and reported to the IAC and EAC for feedback and final evaluation. The evaluation reports will be used to further improve the program.
