The High School Careers in Medicine Program is an intensive one-week program hosted at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine from Monday, June 23, 2025 – Friday, June 27, 2025. The program introduces rising seniors who attend a Miami-Dade County Public School to medical careers and broadens students’ understanding of the healthcare field. Participants will be exposed to simulation education, clinical medicine, academic enrichment, and applying to college. Along with counseling and mentorship by University of Miami Miller School of Medicine faculty, residents, and medical students.

Eligibility Requirements
US citizen, US permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
MUST attend a Miami Dade County Public School.
Entering senior year in Fall 2025.
Earned a B+ or higher in science courses.
Aspire to enter the health and/or medical profession.
Minimum overall GPA of 3.2.
No cost for accepted students to attend.

Only COMPLETE applications will be reviewed. ALL supporting documents must be submitted by the application deadline (no exceptions). Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Personal Statement (maximum of 400 words) explaining why you wish to participate in the High School Careers in Medicine Program. Be sure to highlight your personal and professional goals and any personal attributes you have that would be deemed desirable for a career in healthcare and/or medicine.

(2) Letters of Recommendation
IMPORTANT: Letters of recommendation should be submitted on an official letterhead and at least one letter must come from a science professor. All letters of recommendation MUST be emailed by the recommender directly to the Office of Belonging & Inclusive Excellence at officeofbelonging@med.miami.edu. The deadline to submit letters is Friday, February 21, 2025.
