The Biomedical Graduate Student Government (BGSG) is an organization located at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM). It serves as the link between graduate students and the University administration by representing all students in our Programs in Biomedical Sciences.
BGSG Mission Statement
To serve the graduate student body at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM) campus, addressing students’ academic, social, and professional needs through programs, mentorship, and communication with university administration.
BGSG Goals
- Host activities that foster an interdisciplinary sense of community between all departments and programs within the UMMSOM campus.
- Expose students to career opportunities that await those who graduate with a biomedical sciences degree encompassing both masters and Ph.D.
- Provide students of the biomedical science programs at the UMMSOM campus with coordinated opportunities to serve the Miami Dade community to establish a solid social and professional network.
- Connect program alumni with current students for external mentorship and professional opportunities.
- Serve as the liaison between the student body and university administration, addressing all needs, concerns, and suggestions to improve the biomedical science graduate programs at the UMMSOM campus.
