Green Committee (GC)
Chair: Monika Chojnacka
The Green Committee pursues sustainable and educational initiatives to empower the community to be mindful of the relationship between nature and humanity. We take care of the Miller Herb and Food Garden - teaching volunteers to grow their own healthy food, as well as take educational trips to nearby farms. We are also working to implement sustainable practices across campus.
Career Development (CaD)
Chair: David Tovar
The responsibilities of this committee are to establish a channel between the prospective employers/hiring managers and job-seeking biomedical graduate students, to provide events for graduate students to develop career-building skills, provide events to develop as scientists in academia, work with Toppel Career Center to develop workshops, and to facilitate opportunities for students to network with representatives from these diverse fields. These include, but are not limited to internship opportunities, teaching opportunities, resume building, and interview practice.
Community Service (CoS)
Chair: Catherine Glenny-Pescov
Duties are to provide biomedical graduate students with diverse science and community-related volunteer opportunities to develop aspects of communication, leadership, creativity, and teamwork.
Diversity and Inclusion Committee (DI)
Chairs: Danie Antoine, Clarence Locklear, Yahnell Judah
The duties of the committee is to better support and encourage biomedical graduate students of diverse backgrounds, especially those typically underrepresented in the health sciences, and foster an environment of inclusivity and welcoming that allows all of our students to thrive.
