The UHealth Tics, OCD and Related Problems Program is a flagship program established by Dr. Barbara Coffey in 2017. With both clinical and research components, the program is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of pediatric and adult health care providers including psychiatrists, psychologists, and neurologists.

In 2019, it received a Tourette Association of America designation as a Center of Excellence, especially notable because it recognizes medical institutions that offer the highest level of care, are undertaking groundbreaking research, are leaders in training and education and/or provide exceptional community outreach and advocacy for Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders.

The UHealth Tourette Center of Excellence is led by Dr. Barbara Coffey, chair and professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and an internationally recognized specialist in tics, Tourette's, and related problems, and Dr. Jill Ehrenreich-May, professor of psychology and an expert in the treatment, development, and evaluation of evidence-based therapy for children and adolescents with anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorders.

The Center’s research focuses on the clinical phenomenology, neurobiology (including genomics), and novel treatment of Tourette’s and tic disorders, as well as the relationship between tics and other associated disorders.
