Funded by the University of Miami, Office of the Vice Provost for Research, the study’s primary aim is to determine SARS-CoV-2 positivity among pregnant women (and infants), who deliver at a tertiary care center in Miami, a city with the highest SARS-CoV-2 rates in Florida.  A secondary aim will identify cases of mother to child SARS-CoV-2 transmission, which is critical to establish treatment guidelines.  The study team will focus on the following outcomes:

  1. SARS-CoV-2 point-prevalence positivity rate from a high-risk labor and delivery ward.
  2. Perinatal outcomes of mothers and infants exposed to SARS-CoV-2.
  3. Positive and at-risk infants will be linked to early intervention services as needed. A team of Neonatologists and Pediatric Infectious Disease faculty, who are sub-investigators, will have a direct role in providing a link to clinical care, as indicated.
