The pediatric neurosurgery faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is dedicated to training the next generation of pediatric neurosurgeons through state-of-the-art educational programs, hands-on clinical experience, and exposure to groundbreaking research.
Our faculty has extensive clinical experience in treating complex pediatric neurosurgical cases and also engages in cutting-edge research within the field. Cases include pediatric brain tumors, pediatric vascular conditions (AVM, aneurysm, moyamoya), hydrocephalus, postnatal and fetal myelomeningocele repair, craniosynostosis, and congenital disorders of the brain and spine. Our Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Holtz Children’s Hospital, Dr. Heather McCrea, utilizes both flexible and rigid endoscopy to allow for minimally invasive approaches to treatment. Holtz Children’s Hospital, on our main UM/Jackson Campus, is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the Southeast United States. Our residents also rotate at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital giving them additional pediatric exposure.
