In the last several years, the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias has skyrocketed, affecting 5.7 million people, landing at the number six spot for causes of death in the U.S. Unfortunately, we are still actively searching for a cure.
One of the keys to discovering effective disease-modifying treatments to Alzheimer’s disease is accurate detection and early intervention. As science has progressed, so too have methodologies that are sensitive to preclinical dementia, helping us sooner identify markers in at-risk individuals. New approaches have shifted the paradigm to integrate advanced technological tools. These advancements overcome the many limitations found in conventional assessment and increases our understanding of this debilitating disease.
The other – most important – key to finding a cure is you. Your participation in clinical trials and research studies is the very essence of any success we achieve. Furthering research would be impossible without your time and devotion to this cause, and faith and trust in our abilities to pave the pathway to eradicating this terrible disease. Thanks to you, we have been able to employ novel techniques and innovative tools to see how they affect the brain; and we have already found promising new discoveries.
Thank you for your invaluable contributions to the future of scientific advancement in health and aging.
