Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and Aging

The CNSA has been at the forefront of patient-centered clinical research related to disorders of aging and cognition. Our investigators are funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging, the State of Florida Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program, and other agencies.

Our investigative team collaborates with scientists across the globe and have established collaborations with academic partners in Europe, South America, Mexico and beyond to join our efforts in improving outcomes for patients with neurodegenerative conditions and their families.

We offer state-of-the-art clinical trials that are studying Alzheimer’s disease prevention in persons who are at-risk for developing the disease, and have innovated novel cognitive assessment paradigms and technologically-enhanced instruments that are uniquely sensitive to the earliest changes in cognition, and are appropriate for diverse culture/language groups. In addition, our Center develops and implements state-of-the-art cognitive training programs for older adults at-risk for cognitive decline through our Brain Fitness Pavilion.

Areas of research projects funded include, but are not limited to :

  • Aging and Cognition
    • Normal Age Related Changes in Cognition
    • Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders
    • HIV/AIDS
  • “Functional Skills Training Study”
  • Aging and Functional Performance
  • Telemedicine and eHealth Applications
  • Technology Interventions for Older Adults
  • Family Caregiving
    • UM Working Caregivers
