Rheumatology Fellowship

As a fellow in our Rheumatology program, you'll engage in comprehensive clinical training that encompasses both inpatient and outpatient care.

In the inpatient setting, you'll lead and coordinate activities across three primary rotations: Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, and the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and managing inpatient consultations, developing differential diagnoses, formulating treatment plans, and collaborating closely with referring physicians to ensure seamless patient care. This hands-on experience is designed to refine your clinical skills and deepen your understanding of rheumatic diseases.

Our program also places a strong emphasis on research, dedicating approximately one-third of the fellowship to investigative pursuits. You'll have the opportunity to design and implement original research projects under the mentorship of our experienced faculty, focusing on areas such as the immunology of connective tissue diseases, autoantibodies, and clinical aspects of systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. This research rotation aims to equip you with robust methodological skills, enabling you to contribute meaningfully to advancements in the field of rheumatology.

We attract talented and caring trainees to our rheumatology fellowship program. They share our passions for teaching (and learning), research (and its clinical applications), and quality care.
