The Farkas lab is dedicated to understanding and addressing neurogenic obesity and its associated endometabolic complications in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI).

Research Projects

We investigate the underlying biobehavioral mechanisms contributing to this condition and develop and test interventions to improve obesity management, energy balance, and overall health outcomes. To test hypotheses, the laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach encompassing physiological, behavioral, and neurological techniques. The ultimate goal of our research is to translate findings into effective prevention and treatment strategies that enhance the quality of life for individuals with SCI while reducing obesity and its metabolic risk.
