Lisa Reidy Ph.D. is currently the director of the forensic and clinical toxicology laboratory at the University Of Miami Miller School of medicine in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine. She obtained her BSC (Hons) in toxicology from the Napier University in Edinburgh Scotland, the UK, and an MSC in Forensic Science from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland, the UK, and Ph.D. from the Queens University of Belfast in Belfast, N. Ireland, the UK in the area of analytical chemistry. Dr. Reidy is board certified in toxicology from the National Registry of Clinical Chemist.
On completion of her Ph.D. Dr. Reidy accepted a laboratory supervisor position at the University of Miami, under the leadership of Dr. B. Steele, who was the PI of the laboratory at the said time. One of my main goals, after becoming director in 2012, for the laboratory was to improve and diversify testing and obtain board certification from the American Board of Toxicology, an internationally recognized certification body in forensic toxicology, for the laboratory, which Dr. Reidy achieved in 2014. Since becoming the PI of the laboratory in 2016, she has progressed the laboratory to expand into clinical and research work. The laboratory, now offers toxicology testing for the UM medical school. We perform testing for the pain clinics at UMH, Sylvester Cancer Center and the satellite clinics. Dr. Reidy has lectured physicians in toxicology and interpretation of test results and strive to improve this testing for the patients and faculty. She is also involved in lecturing clinical toxicology to the pathology residents and fellows.
