The Center occupies 5,800 sq. ft. in the McKnight Research Building on the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine campus. The facilities were uniquely designed and conveniently located on one floor to maximize the educational experience for both instructors and students. The Center includes:

  • Large operating theater with six bays each equipped with laparoendoscopic equipment
  • Two sterile operating room suites with laparoscopic equipment
  • Medical simulation laboratory housing virtual reality endoscopy and laparoscopy simulators as well as box trainers
  • Lecture hall for thirty with two screens, audio-video conferencing, and live surgery transmission capability from the University of Miami operating rooms and the Surgical Endoscopy Center located in Jackson Memorial Hospital
  • Conference room for ten with screen, and audio-video conferencing capability
  • Reception and dining area
  • Locker rooms

The Center’s facilities are excellent for educational courses, workshops, in-service training, research, and product development. Staff is available to assist in the planning and implementation of events as well as the procurement of special equipment such as a c-arm fluoroscope.

Location

The Center is located in the McKnight Research Building on the University of Miami School of Medicine campus. The campus is located in the Civic Center area 15 minutes from downtown Miami and 20 minutes from Miami International Airport and is convenient to Tri-Rail and all major highways.
