Research in pediatric pulmonary diseases is ongoing at all times. If your pediatric pulmonologist feels your child would benefit from enrollment in a clinical trial, you will be fully informed of all treatment options before you are asked to make a decision about participation.
The cystic fibrosis program participates in multi-center clinical trials under the auspices of the Therapeutic Development Network (TDN) of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This enables us to recruit patients to participate in ongoing research towards more effective interventions and eventually the cure for cystic fibrosis.
In addition to research in cystic fibrosis, the Division also conducts research in the fields of sleep-disordered breathing and asthma as part of various grants or in collaboration with other departments within UM or with other institutions.
