The mission of the Division of Urogynecology is to provide the highest level of world class, evidence-based, personalized care for our patients with pelvic floor disorders, to engage in cutting-edge research in urogynecology, and to educate the most compassionate future leaders and experts in the field.

Patient Care

The University of Miami Health System offers comprehensive treatment for conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence and more — including the latest noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments. Our diverse and expansive patient population provides excellent opportunities for challenging clinical care. Our doctors have advanced training and expertise and are sensitive to the needs of our patients and use the latest technology to help each woman receive the individualized care she needs.

Education

The Division of Urogynecology is committed to educating healthcare practitioners at all levels. We provide both classroom-based and clinical instruction to our learners to gain an understanding of the competencies required in the various aspects of urogynecology. Training at our clinical sites gives learners opportunities to care for patients from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our wide-reaching gynecologic patient population, combined with a committed faculty, creates a rich environment for medical students, residents, and fellows to train in our vibrant community.

The Desai Sethi Urology Institute of University of Miami/Jackson Health System offers an ACGME- approved fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS)/Urogynecology, a combined alternating program accepting Urology and Gynecology applicants in rotating years. The program is an ABOG/ABU approved fellowship consisting of a two year program for Urology trained applicants and a three year program for OB/GYN trained applicants. Research

In addition to our clinical services, we support clinical, translational and basic science research in the field of urogynecology through our committed team of faculty, postgraduate fellows, residents, and medical students.
