FemTech Program

Department of Informatics and Health Data Science

For too long, women's health has been overlooked in research and technology. We're changing that. Our FemTech Program brings together brilliant minds from health care, tech, and business to create an ecosystem and solutions that work for women's bodies and lives.

Why It Matters

  • Women make up half the population, but spend 25% of their lives in poor health.*
  • Until 1993, women weren't even required in clinical trials.**
  • Women make 80% of health care decisions for themselves and their families.***
  • Women's health concerns are underserved, with conditions affecting billions receiving minimal funding and technological attention.****

What We're Building

  • Tech that works for women: Apps, devices, and digital solutions designed specifically for women's needs.
  • The next generation of innovators: Training students to see the opportunities in women's health.
  • Industry partnerships: Connecting researchers with companies to bring solutions to market faster.
  • A community of changemakers: Uniting everyone who wants to transform women's health.

The Challenges We're Tackling

  • Social stigma around women's health issues.
  • Lack of research funding and the need for more research in FemTech.
  • Technology designed without women in mind.
  • Lack of awareness around the FemTech industry and the need to improve women’s health through technology.

Join the Movement

Whether you're a student, health care provider, tech innovator, or industry partner, there's a place for you in our community. Let's build a healthier future for all women.
