About Us
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Informatics and Health Data Science creates and accelerates innovative health technologies that are accessible for all. While data is ubiquitous, different formats are often funneled into their own silos. By sourcing information from multiple disciplines under one roof, the department helps researchers cross-pollinate ideas and approaches and translate them to patient care.
Biological, behavioral, clinical, digital, environmental, social, political, and psychological data are equally important in understanding health. Thus, the team embraces a precision and personalized population health framework -- one that uses data to generate insights -- to decentralize and democratize research. This structure has five pillars that together work to make a profound impact in patient care.
