We are leaders in obstetric anesthesiology and were recently awarded a Center of Excellence (COE) designation by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology in 2023. The Center of Excellence designation was created in 2018 to recognize institutions that demonstrate excellence in obstetric anesthesia care, as well as to set a benchmark of care in order to improve standards nationally and internationally. We are the only hospital with COE designation in South Florida, and the second in the state to achieve this distinction.
The mission for our division is to provide the highest quality obstetric anesthesia care to our patients, while providing excellent education to our trainees, and advancing the specialty through research. Our faculty, fellows, and residents work closely with an interdisciplinary team of obstetricians, nurses, and neonatologists in delivering safe care to our low- and high-risk patients. In addition, our team supports the care of patients undergoing fetal surgery at Holtz. Our patient population is incredibly diverse, with both local and international patients.
Our team of board-certified anesthesiologists who have fellowship training, or extensive experience in obstetric anesthesiology, are available 24-hours a day. Our faculty are actively engaged in research and are recognized experts in the field. The division is led by Paloma Toledo, MD, MPH. Our team has held multiple leadership roles in national and international organizations, serve on the editorial board of major journals, and have been honored with national research and teaching awards.
We are proud to deliver the best care to our patients and welcome you to learn more about our faculty and obstetric anesthesia fellowship.
