Division of Neuroanesthesia

Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management
Welcome to the Division of Neuroanesthesiology and Perioperative Neurosciences at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.

The Neuroanesthesia and Perioperative Neurosciences Division provides perioperative care to patients undergoing elective and emergency neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures at the University Miami Hospital (560 beds), Jackson Memorial Hospital (1550 beds) and Ryder Trauma Center (treats approximately 5,000 patients). The division contributes to the patient’s perioperative journey and provides optimum care with strong multidisciplinary collaboration. World leading the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center and The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis programs at UHealth/Jackson Memorial complements our dedication to saving and improving lives worldwide.

Neurosurgical and Orthopedic Service lines care for challenging elective and emergency cases involving the brain and spinal cord. More than 1000 spine and 1000 neurological procedures are performed annually.
In addition, the department is actively involved in administering anesthesia to patients undergoing neuro-interventional procedures. Each year, over 300 general anesthetics are provided to patients receiving endovascular treatment for conditions such as stroke, aneurysms (ruptured and non-ruptured), arteriovenous malformations, tumor embolizations, and vertebroplasties.

Supported by state-of-the-art neuromonitoring tools, our division thrives on providing optimum care for our latest surgical interventions, such as minimally invasive spine, robotics, and complex spinal reconstructions, as well as complex intracranial tumor craniotomies, open neurovascular craniotomies, sitting and awake craniotomies, and stereotactic procedures.
Our experienced neuroanesthesiology faculty conducts clinical trials, publishes peer-reviewed articles, and participates in one of the largest neuroanesthesiology training programs in the country.

Thank you for visiting, and we would like to encourage you to learn more about our programs.
