Mission and Vision

Schiff Center for Liver Diseases

Global Department CTA Block

As it enters its third decade, the Schiff Center is seeking to reach new heights of distinction in research, prevention, and training to tomorrow’s leaders in hepatology.

With the number of people living with chronic liver disease increasing annually, and as South Florida’s only academic medical center, it is incumbent upon the University of Miami to take on a leading role in finding new approaches for a spectrum of hepatobiliary diseases affecting over 25 million people annually. The Schiff Center for Liver Diseases is positioning itself to meet these opportunities for newfound scientific approaches and discoveries that will make possible changes in the way we think about liver conditions.

To meet these needs, the University of Miami is pleased to announce planning for a next generation liver research and education “pavilion” on the Miller School of Medicine campus. The Schiff Center for Liver Diseases Pavillion will be a unique, multidisciplinary basic and clinical research, clinical trial, and medical education facility dedicated to identifying bold, new directions for the understanding, treatment, and research of the liver. The Schiff Pavillion will strengthen the Center’s already cutting-edge research programs, aid in recruitment of the best physicians and scientists, and create a collaborative environment in which to develop new treatments and preventions – as well as assist in finding the unanswered questions to many of the most severe hepatobiliary diseases.
