Dr. Pericak-Vance and Dr. Eden Martin are principal investigators of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) funded Collaboration on Alzheimer Disease Research (CADRE), part of the congressionally mandated Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP).
CADRE aims to analyze whole genome sequence data generated during the ADSP Follow-Up Study (ADSP-FUS) phase incorporating large cohorts of patients and healthy individuals of diverse population groups. The Follow-Up Study phase will generate over 60,000 additional whole genome sequences on samples that encompass the richest possible ethnic diversity, including primarily Hispanic and African American individuals. The CADRE project will provide the intensive and comprehensive analytical effort to uncover the wealth of information in these datasets of case-control cohorts and family study designs. Genomic analyses of the combined ADSP data will be performed to identify the highest priority variants and loci as candidates for functional analyses and testing as therapeutic targets.
CADRE is led at the University of Miami School of Medicine by Drs. Margaret A. Pericak-Vance and Eden Martin, as joint principal investigators, supported by Drs. Gary Beecham, Brian Kunkle and Farid Rajabli. Principal investigators at the other Universities include Drs. Jonathan Haines and Will Bush at Case Western Reserve University and Dr. Lindsay Farrer at Boston University.
