The Division of Genetic Epidemiology resides within the Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical Genetics. Faculty in this Division apply genetic epidemiology and statistical approaches in the conduct of research to identify genetic and gene- environmental interaction causes of human diseases.
The Division of Genetic Epidemiology has available experienced analysis teams composed of statistical analysts who work closely with project PI’s on study design, analysis conception, implementation and interpretation, assisting in data management, analysis and reporting of results. Additionally, the Division works closely with the Divisions of Research Informatics and Statistical Programming to maintain and update data processing and statistical analysis software and pipelines.
The GESG Center performs the following essential functions for the Hussman Institute for Human Genomics (HIHG) and their collaborators:
- Study design
- Quality-control analysis
- Disease-gene mapping studies
- Identification of environmental factors in genetic diseases
- Pharmacogenomics
- Cohort studies
- Family studies
- CNV analysis
- Sanger sequencing
- Next Generation sequencing
- Population/Ethnicity Classification
