Research Focus

The APReCIAT lab aims to develop, test, and implement non-pharmacologic strategies to improve:

  1. Clinical pain management
  2. Interprofessional pain education
  3. Access to pain studies and programs for the community

We are currently focused on using non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation to improve neuropathy and pain related to chemotherapy, diabetes, and HIV. We also employ a variety of neurophysiological, psychophysical, and inflammatory markers in our research.

Our team is built around a core of physical therapists, who are clinician-scientists, and who collectively have over 70 years of clinical experience in pain management across a variety of patient populations. Our team is multilingual to ensure that our projects are accessible for the local community.
