Dr. Brandon Mahal is a physician-scientist at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (MSOM) - Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC).

He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with Honors at Harvard MedicalSchool and completed clinical residency in Radiation Oncology at theHarvard Radiation Oncology Program. Dr. Mahal also completed a research post-doc in translational epidemiology and genomics during his training asa Holman Research Pathway Fellow.

Dr. Mahal is an internationally recognized expert in prostate cancer and cancer disparities research, with over 100 co-authored manuscripts including several publications in top medical journals such as NEJM, JAMA, and JAMA Oncology. His research lab focuses on prostate cancer, cancer disparities, translational epidemiology, genomics, and scientific outreach/engagement in the context of addressing cancer disparities. Dr.Mahal’s prostate cancer research is funded by the Prostate CancerFoundation (PCF), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO),Department of Defense (DOD), and National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr.Mahal has served and is actively serving on several expert committees and panels, including The Lancet Commission on Prostate Cancer, American CancerSociety (ACS) National Advisory Team on Prostate Cancer Disparities,AdMeTech Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, and Prostate Cancer FoundationDisparities Working Group.
