Research Focus
To improve hearing preservation, communication outcomes, and quality of life in individuals with hearing loss and neurodevelopmental disorders through innovative surgical, therapeutic, and translational approaches.
- Investigation of inner ear trauma and molecular mechanisms contributing to loss of residual hearing after cochlear implantation
- Development and testing of protective strategies such as targeted drug delivery, hypothermia and stem cell therapy during cochlear implant surgery
- Clinical trials and outcomes research in complex cochlear implant cases, including patients with cochlear malformations, ossification, advanced age, or autism spectrum disorder
- Evaluation and management of hearing loss, tinnitus, and hyperacusis using medical, integrative, and implantable device-based approaches
- Preclinical drug screening program for otoprotective and neuroprotective agents using in-vitro, ex-vivo, and in-vivo models
- Research on auditory and behavioral outcomes in children
