Research Focus

All animals and people rely on their senses for critical information about the environment. The taste system is crucial, and allows the organism to identify nutrients, avoid toxins, and provide input for the regulation of metabolic processes and reflexes, appetite regulation, and of course, sensory perception and affect.

The Chaudhari lab studies cellular physiology of the taste system in the peripheral detectors, the taste buds, and in the sensory neurons that innervate them. We use a variety of tools – from single-cell RNA sequencing, to confocal microscopy, to in vivo Ca2+ imaging in anesthetized mice.

We are always looking to recruit enthusiastic, creative and productive postdocs and post-bac research associates. Join Us!
