Dr. Zhipeng Meng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and an affiliated member of the Tumor Biology Program at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. With a focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms controlling tissue regeneration, fibrosis, and carcinogenesis, Dr. Meng’s research specializes in mechanotransduction mediated by the Hippo pathway.
After obtaining their Ph.D. and conducting postdoctoral research in Dr. Kun-Liang Guan’s laboratory, they have made several groundbreaking discoveries in the Hippo field, including identifying MAP4Ks as non-canonical Hippo kinases and RAP2 GTPases as Hippo pathway mediators.
Since starting their tenure track at the University of Miami in 2020, Dr. Meng has discovered numerous novel proteins involved in mechanotransduction and has also contributed to academia by serving as a lecturer for the Cancer Biology graduate program and as a faculty mentor for various NIH programs.
