Biography
Dr. Zeina Carolina Hannoush is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was honored with the Professionalism and Outstanding Fellow awards. Since joining the faculty in 2017, Dr. Hannoush has developed a thriving clinical practice specializing in neuroendocrine disorders, thyroid diseases, and thyroid cancer, and has co-chaired the Thyroid and Adrenal Tumor Board.
Dr. Hannoush has a strong passion for medical education. From 2017 to 2023, she served as the Endocrinology Course Director for medical students and, since 2022, has co-directed the Medicine as a Profession (MAP) course, overseeing small group learning communities, curriculum development, execution, and assessments. In this role, she also provides support and faculty development for 26 longitudinal clinical educators. In 2023, she became the Associate Program Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship and pioneered a standardized training program for fellows in thyroid fine needle aspiration techniques, earning the Endocrinology Fellowship Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019 and 2024. Dr. Hannoush has published multiple articles reporting novel mutations found to cause endocrine-related diseases, online book chapters, review articles, and case reports. Her work and the work of her mentees has been presented at national and international academic society meetings. She is an active member of over a dozen regional and international academic society committees and has served as a reviewer for different medical journals. -
