Biography
Yuguang Ban, PhD, is a research assistant professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and a member of the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has collaborated extensively with cancer genomics researchers at Sylvester since joining the University of Miami in 2015 and has served as a bioinformatics project manager for the shared resource since 2018.
Dr. Ban completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Statistics at Northwestern University, where he developed a machine learning method for analyzing microbial networks derived from high-dimensional metagenomic data. His research focuses on metagenomic data analysis and the integration of multiple types of next-generation sequencing data.
More recently, Dr. Ban has collaborated with Abreu, MD, in the Department of Medicine on a dietary study that integrates nutrient, microbiome, and metabolite data to examine the impact of diet on patients with inflammatory bowel disease. He also has extensive experience developing statistical methods and analytical tools for pathway analysis and conducting genomic analyses across a wide range of omics data. -
