Biography
Dr. Yevgeniy “Yev” Kharonov joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Radiology in August 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency and a cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School, where he gained advanced expertise in cardiac MRI and CT, thoracic imaging, and lung cancer screening. He also pursued focused training in emergency radiology through a dedicated mini-fellowship, providing him with significant experience in acute care and trauma imaging.
Dr. Kharonov earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Neuromusculoskeletal Sciences from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, following undergraduate studies at Baruch College, CUNY. His academic achievements have been recognized with honors including the Resident Teacher of the Year Award at UMass Chan, reflecting his commitment to teaching and mentorship.
His clinical and research interests include cardiothoracic MRI and CT angiography, pulmonary embolism detection using artificial intelligence, lung cancer screening, and emergency radiology. He has presented at national meetings such as the Society of Abdominal Radiology and remains active in professional societies including the Radiological Society of North America, the Society of Thoracic Radiology, and the American Society of Emergency Radiology.
At the University of Miami, Dr. Kharonov brings a strong foundation in cardiothoracic and emergency imaging along with a passion for innovation, collaboration, and education. -
